What is the difference between Ethiopian opals and Australian opals?
Ethiopian opals form in volcanic rock and are known for their vivid, often neon-like flashes of colour. Their higher water content can give them a lively, translucent glow.
Australian opals form in sedimentary rock and are more stable in structure, with strong body colour and distinct pattern play. Many Australian opals appear white or light-bodied, which enhances the contrast and visibility of their internal colour patterns.
Do Ethiopian opals and Australian opals have the same durability?
No. Australian opals are generally more stable because they contain less water. Ethiopian opals are more sensitive to changes in heat and moisture.
What metals are used in your opal jewellery?
Opal rings, necklaces, and earrings are available in solid 925 sterling silver, 18k gold vermeil, white gold vermeil, and rose gold vermeil.
What is gold vermeil?
Gold vermeil is a thick layer of real gold over sterling silver. The base metal is always a solid 925 sterling silver, not brass or other base metals. In our pieces, the gold layer is 5 microns thick, giving added durability, richer colour, and longer-lasting wear compared to standard vermeil.
Are all opals natural?
Yes. Ethiopian and Australian opals used in this collection are natural gemstones formed in the earth.

Orders are processed Monday through Friday. When your order is ready to ship, it will be received by one of our shipping carriers & you will also receive tracking information via email when your order has been dispatched from the studio.
