Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase

The most valuable gemstone variety of Chalcedony - Chrysoprase. The strength of its stunning green color varies - depending on the amount of present elements.

Chrysoprase was named after Greek words Chrys & Prase meaning “gold or yellow” & “green”. It was supposedly the favourite stone of Alexander the Great. The gem was very popular with Greeks, Romans & Egyptians for it’s vivid green color - they used it for jewelry, carved objects etc. It is connected with months of May & June, and it is believed to be the best crystal antidepressant - supporting optimism, joy & happiness.

Chrysoprase strength is between 6-7 on the Mohs Scale. You should protect your Chrysoprase from strong household chemicals & long exposures to direct sunlight. When cleaning, simply use warm soapy water.
